Safety Guidelines

Only the Holy Spirit can lead you and guide you in making the Holy Anointing Oil.  We can not assist you in this area.  Why?  Because when one is called to make the Holy Anointing Oil the Lord is calling them into a deeper relationship with Him alone.

If you feel led by the Holy Spirit to make the Holy Anointing Oil and use essential oils please read the following safety information.  Some essential oils can be hazardous and safety guidelines need to be followed.

Cassia is extracted from the bark of the tree and is a strong dermal sensitizer and moderate mucous membrane irritant.  If used externally, a maximum use level of 0.1% is recommended.

BLENDING NOTE:  If blending with myrrh and other oils, blend the myrrh and cassia together FIRST.  Stir oils until the mixture clears then add other essential oils and olive oil.

Cinnamon is a mild/moderate dermal irritant and moderate mucous membrane irritant.  If used externally, a 10% use level is recommended.

Calamus (Acorus calamus) is toxic because of the beta-asarone level.  If used as a fragrance ingredient the maximum use level should not exceed .01%.  Please note we only use pure Calamus (Acorus calamus) in our Holy Anointing Oil.  There is another Calamus essential oil available that has a lower beta-asarone level, however, this is not what the Holy Anointing Oil would have been made with in Biblical days.

Myrrh is steam distilled from the resin and is generally considered safe to use but possibly could be toxic in high concentrations.
